Teatro Grattacielo in New York is organizing its first Annual Verismo
Voice Competition this fall. The contestants must submit two Italian
arias from the verismo repertoire by September 20. Semi-finals and
finals will take place respectively on October 19 and October 25 in
New York City. More information can be found here:

The selected verismo arias include repertoire from Mascagni, and also
Leoncavallo, Giordano, Cilea, Catalani, Franchetti, Respighi,
Zandonai, Alfano and Puccini.

This is a remarkable idea. Let's hope for a lot of contestants.
