1. Piano works by David Vine. This includes the Pensiero a San Francisco, already available, as well as six other pieces:
2. Seven Mascagni songs by Patricia Wright and David Vine. These come from a CD, Serenata, released a few years ago.
Thanks a lot to Roger Flury and David vine for those two wonderful contributions!
The sounds are available in MP3 format as well as in Ogg format, "a completely open, patent-free, professional audio encoding and streaming technology".
3. "Mascagni in America", an article by Henry T. Finck, 1902. This is the little preface I wrote: "Henry T. Finck wrote this article at the beginning of Mascagni's 1902-1903 American tour. Most of his facts are correct, and his desire to see Guglielmo Ratcliff performed is quite justified. However his appreciation of Zanetto and Iris is misguided and typical of a misunderstanding of Mascagni's operatic output, which consists in expecting his other operas to sound like Cavalleria Rusticana. This attitude unfortunately persists today."
The article comes with a great photograph of Mascagni and his family.
4. It is now possible to search the entire site using the search box at the top of every page. The index is only refreshed as often as Google visits Mascagni.org, but the results are pretty good.
