Here are a few updates from the Mascagni universe:

1. Upcoming Performances of Iris in Livorno

   The Teatro Goldoni of Livorno has just announced two performances
   of Iris in September and October 2006, in the context of the
   Mascagni Project of the Teatro Goldoni Foundation.

   This is a new production of the Teatro Goldoni Foundation of
   Livorno and the Teatro Verdi Foundation of Trieste, co-produced
   with the Teatro Verdi Foundation of Pisa, the Teatro Sociale of
   Rovigo, the Azienda Teatro del Giglio of Lucca, and the Teatro
   Communale Foundation of Modena. The complete cast has not yet been
   announced.

   When: Saturday, September 30, 2006 - Sunday, October 1, 2006

2. Upcoming Performances of Excerpts From Guglielmo Ratcliff, Parisina
   and Il Piccolo Marat in Livorno

   The Teatro Goldoni of Livorno has just announced performances of
   individual acts from Guglielmo Ratcliff, Parisina and Il Piccolo
   Marat in November 2006, in the context of the Mascagni Project of
   the Teatro Goldoni Foundation.

   These three operas are among the most beautiful Mascagni has ever
   written, so this is an occasion that should not be missed. In
   particular, according to Mascagni specialists such as the late
   David Stivender and the late conductor Gianandrea Gavazzeni, Act IV
   of Parisina contains some of Mascagni's most beautiful music.

   An audio file of Calogero Di Liberto's beautiful Fantasia sulla
   Cavalleria Rusticana (Fantasy on Cavalleria Rusticana), performed
   by the composer.

   The audio file is available in mp3 and ogg formats, from the
   recording page, the Cavalleria Rusticana Audio Files page, and also
   currently directly from the Mascagni.org home page. This is
   published with the kind permission of the artist and Casa Sonzogno.
