Shyam, Based on our experience with the .museum domain, I think .art is a waste of time. The general public only really has .com engrained in their consciousness, with .org, .net, .edu, and .gov barely being used/recognized. I see this as museum hubris for a tiny audience. You'll also notice that the domain is only offered by one (very small/obscure) name registrar and only by invitation.
