URL: <http://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?func=detailitem&item_id=11763> Summary: reverse indexes not suitable for search engines Project: MHonArc Submitted by: jab Submitted on: Fri 01/28/2005 at 07:46 Category: None Severity: 5 - Average Item Group: None Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Open/Closed: Open Platform Version: Linux Perl Version: 5.8.4 Component Version: 2.6.10 Fixed Release: _______________________________________________________ Details: This is really a old feature request rather than a bug report, but I wanted to add it into the system. I like reverse indexes for human factors reasons. However, wehn reverse indexes are generated there is no stability as to what message is on what index page. As the archive progresses what's at any given index page URL will change. Thus it is essentially impossible for search engines like Google to give good results for a mhonarc reverse or treverse index page. It would be nice if that weren't the case. This feature request has an interaction with bug #372 and also mhonarc's "poor man's windowing" feature. _______________________________________________________ This item URL is: <http://savannah.nongnu.org/bugs/?func=detailitem&item_id=11763> _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by Savannah http://savannah.nongnu.org/ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE MHONARC-DEV
