-------- Original Message -------- Subject: units of between object distances within a morphospace Date: Tue, 20 Oct 2009 13:39:06 -0700 (PDT) From: pal...@imedea.uib-csic.es To: morphmet@morphometrics.org Dear listers, I have just been asked by an editor for the units of a graph displaying between-object distances within a morphospace. In this case, Distances are Euclidean distances measured from the W matrix obtained from TPS. The quick answer I was writing is that after scaling for the centroide size and depending on the number of landmarks, absolute values are not interpretable and they can be interpreted in a relative way only. However, they are distances, so they are not truly dimensionless quantities. so..., Is it possible to give units for between-object distances? Thanks Miquel Palmer -- Replies will be sent to the list. For more information visit http://www.morphometrics.org
