I am in a new school that does not have everyone teaching reading in the same way. The curriculum coordinator is looking at bringing in a reading scheme to ensure that instruction is more consistent across grade levels. We have classroom libraries but there is concern that implicit teaching of strategies is not really happening. What do you think about taking this approach with getting into a reading scheme which still has the leveled books but is more directed about how to teach what and when? Experience with a good program or the name of a school or district I could visit to see it first hand would also be appreciated. Thank you for your help with this one.
