Hey guys-
at our meeting on wed. we compiled a list of everything we've done this
year.
here it is...
MSFT 2004-2005
-Started of with Banana farmer coming to speak- on a tour with Transfair
- Critical Caffeine- thanks to Joan we had a map, Claudia a song, KFong a
petition, and another guy brought his trumpet, and everyone got many
signature on their petitions. We went to 5 different coffee shops and by
the end of the year Coffee News had 2 kinds of fair trade coffee and Dunn
brother go more as well.
- In February we headed off to the USFT conference in Chi-town. Got closer
with Peace Coffee, and Shea, meet tons of other students doing cool stuff
in the realm of fairness, and attended workshops. We video taped our
weekend in Chicago and KFONG made an awesome film festival worthy short of
our weekend.
- We helped organize a trade forum with MPIRG- brought in speakers from
econ department, the MN Fair Trade Coalition, Mississippi market and 10000
Villages?stirred up talk of FT and CAFTA on campus.
- We took on CAFTA as an issue and did 3 call-in sessions to Congress
people of MN
- our first one to Norm Coleman was mostly educating people on campus
about CAFTA
- the next we made a large batch of cookies and flooding Norm Coleman’s
offices and Mark Kennedy’s offices with calls and talked with people about
CAFTA.
- the next day (with our left over cookies) we went to a trade debate at
St. Catherines and did another call-in there- sparked the interest of a
diverse group in the community- many old people and we filled up the
message machines of Kennedy and Coleman.
- We also attended a rally with a construction workers union against CAFTA
outside of Norm Coleman’s office and personally handed his secretaries our
petitions (that we had people sign at call-ins).
Damn we are awesome?
