Might I ask what you saw? I would love to hear your story. I too saw "something" in 2003. Esther In a message dated 10/29/2008 11:01:53 P.M. Central Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:
i grant you all that, but it does not change what I and others have seen so, the truth is if we have all the answers why even discuss it ________________________________ From: T. I think any actual literal physical change of a human being into a wolf, coyote, bear, tiger, or leopard, or vice versa, is EXTREMELY unlikely, for two reasons: (1) I find it very hard to think of any plausible biological mechanism for radically changing anatomical structures from those of one species to those of another species in just a few minutes. (2) The ENERGY needed for such a quick, radical physical transformation would, in all likelihood, end up producing ANOTHER well-known (and much better authenticated) Fortean phenomenon-- Spontaneous Human Combustion! Or are some SHC cases really unsuccessful lycanthropy attempts? :-) For these reasons, I have ALWAYS been EXTREMELY skeptical of any and all "lycanthropy" and "shape-shifting" stories, interpreted as literal physical transformations. However, I also see no good reason to dogmatically reject several other Fortean and paranormal explanations of seeming "lycanthropy, " "werewolf," or "shape-shifting" cases: (1) Spectral "Black Dogs" and "Phantom Wolves," a well-authenticated paranormal phenomenon, which sometimes manifests shape-shifting (see Janet and Colin Bord, /Alien Animals/, 1981) (2) Comparable spectral "Hairy Hominid" or "Bigfoot" cases, again sometimes manifesting shape-shifting (again, see Janet and Colin Bord, /Alien Animals/) (3) Giant Monkeys, as posited by Loren Coleman and Patrick Huyghe in /The Field Guide to Bigfoot and Other Mystery Primates/ (2006) as one of their nine basic types of frequently reported cryptid primates, probably responsible for many "out-of-place kangaroo" and even "goat-man" reports (and maybe even some "Bunnyman" cases? :-) ) (4) "Ghosts" (whatever they might REALLY be), with seemingly few or no qualms about shape-shifting (5) Shamans with a mental or "psychic" capacity to "hypnotize" witnesses into seemingly perceiving a "shape-shifting" episode, who can telepathically induce people into seeing them change into a wolf, bear, deer, or tiger! All these, I think, I can more or less accept--far more than literal physical shape-shifting!
