The tribal-state water rights compact came out of a state legislation, two-day special session in June. Water rights hae been allocated in major streams in southeastern Montana (including streams on the Bighorn River, Little Bighorn River and Pryor Creek)and resolves a 20-year-old dispute between the Crow and the state over coal severance taxes. Congress will need to ratify the compact. Crow tribal members will need to approve a referendum and it must be approved by the state water court. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To include: Federal Indian Law Aboriginal Law Alaska Native Law Reprinted under the fair use http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/17/107.html doctrine of international copyright law. &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& Tsonkwadiyonrat (We are ONE Spirit) Unenh onhwa' Awayaton http://www.tdi.net/ishgooda/ &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
