*********PLEASE DISTRIBUTE THIS MESSAGE FREELY*********

July 18th, 1999
There have again been more articles on the Anderson High School R*dskins
debate here in Cincinnati. I'm trying to keep up with updating everyone, do
forgive me if I tend to fall behind a little. Our meeting with the school
board will be tomorrow evening, SO, there will be more to post by Wednesday.
If you've followed this you know a group called SOS (Save Our Skins) has
formed. Their yard signs are now intact, I've viewed them myselves. (If
you would like to see articles since we first took on this issue, visit
these sites in order

Anderson3 will be up and running in the next four days. - Thank You for your
patience.) The group is in full swing. Please support us, whether in
prayer, in letter, or in person. We appreciate any of these forms of
support. This time I do have some websites for some of the articles in this
update, but some of them I still have to type up for this update.
(ATTENTION: LPDC, view the OPINION in the Cincinnati Enquirer on July 16th -
you'll be blown away!) And a note to everyone else, I'm doing these in the
order of the date, so there are links below these typed articles.

CINCINNATI ENQUIRER - IN THE OPINION SECTION - JULY 16TH, 1999
Group defends Redskins mascot

Some Anderson High School graduates, parents of Anderson students and
residents of the Forest Hills School District (members of Save Our Skins)
are rallying to save the Redskins nickname and Indian logo from attack by
the group known as American Indian Movement (AIM). The group has a history
of violent confrontations with the law, the most notable being the murder of
two young FBI agents by AIM activist Leonard Peltier.
On June 26, 1975, on the Pine Ridge Reservation near Manderson, S.D.,
special agents Ronald Williams, 27, and Jack Coler, 28, were looking for a
young man who had abducted and assaulted two ranchers. They followed the
suspect's car, in which AIM activists began firing on the FBI agents.
The two wounded agents were surrounded and then assassinated at
point-blank range. Mr. Peltier was later apprehended, tried in U.S.
District Court and convicted of the murders. He is serving two consecutive
life sentences. However, AIM considers Mr. Peltier to be a "political
prisoner" and is circulating petitions asking the president to pardon him.
This is the organization pushing for Anderson High School to change its
nickname and on "moral" grounds. Has political correctness gone so far that
law-abiding, tax-paying citizens must bow to the requests of terrorist
organizations such as AIM?
The members of Save Our Skins (S.O.S.) are proud of our blue-ribbon
Anderson High School. We want to keep its traditions intact. We want any
decisions affecting its traditions to be made by those who care about the
school and not to be influenced by groups that are carrying out their own
political agendas.
