Hash error in File::Cache line 407

I have recently upgraded my version of NewsClipper to 1.22-pl. In so 
doing, I have begun to receive the following error during execution:

>> Can't use an undefined value as a HASH reference at 
e:/Perl/site/lib/File/Cache.pm line 407. <<

In running the debug mode, I determined that both the digitalblasphemy 
and calvin handlers was returning this error. In my brief perusal of the 
File::Cache and Newsclipper.pl scripts, I could not determine what line 
in Newsclipper was causing this error in File::Cache. Any ideas would 
be appreciated.
