Several people reported the following error:
Can't use an undefined value as a HASH reference at
e:/Perl/site/lib/File/Cache.pm line 407.
Somehow NC is corrupting the cache, and then the File::Cache module (upon
which News Clipper's cache is built) is failing. I suspect the cache is being
corrupted when when NC times out and aborts while writing data. Unfortunately,
I haven't been able to confirm this.
In any case, the File::Cache module should handle odd cases like this without
crashing. I've patched the File::Cache module to be more robust with respect
to corrupted data, and I'm waiting for the module author to approve my changes
and release a new version. When he does, I'll send an email with instructions
on how to get your version of File::Cache updated.
In the meantime, when you see this error, run News Clipper once manually with
the -C switch. This will zap the entire cache, including the corrupted cache
entry.
Regards,
David
