Coilsfield House was written by Nathaniel Gow, one of a family of 
distinguished Scottish fiddlers in the late C18 / early C19 period.

They are part of what I refer to the Eastern Scottish fiddle 
tradition, which has links all up and down the East coast, and so, in 
my mind, is more closely related to some Northumbrian music than the 
Western (Highland or Celtic ) Scottish fiddle dialects.
