The complete transcription of the census for Shelburne County for 1861 is now available on my website, here: http://www.dwaynemeisner.com/censusnovascotia.php Click on "Shelburne" to see the menu choices of which census is available. The 1861 census covers all eight polling districts of Shelburne County, which were, in 1861, Carleton Village, Shelburne, Ragged Islands, Louis Head, Shag Harbour, Cape Sable Island, Barrington, and Port LaTour. The 1861 census only lists heads of households, but I have also included the number of males and females in each household as well. If you are already a registered member of my site, you will be able to view the information immediately. New users will have to complete the free registration process. As always, please let me know if you spot any errors. I am sure there are a few... Feel free to check out the other areas of the map that I have completed earlier. I have also posted this email to the Lunenburg lists as well. There are a lot of common names from Lunenburg County living in Shelburne County in 1861.
