Hi Frank,

I don't have the obituary for A Frank Hayden, and there is a mistake in
either his headstone or the cemetery listing at
http://www.jedh.com/Halifax/halifaxh.htm
Ethel is in listing #199, with a Frank B in #200, his dates 1929 - 1952, and
Frank D in #70, 1929 - 1952. This would be their son. It's more likely to be
Frank the husband in #200, but I won't be to Ship Harbour until at least the
summer to check it.

Here is a transcription of their marriage announcement:
Hayden - Laybolt
The marriage took place last evening at Trinity Church, Rev. L. J. Donaldson
officiating, of Frank Hayden and Miss Ethel Viola Laybolt. The bride was
dressed in navy blue Canton crepe, with grey hat and shoes and stockings,
and carried a bouquet of carnations. She was attended by Miss Christine
Sims, who was dressed in navy blue crepe and carried a bouquet of
carnations. The groom was attended by Gerald Druenvack, and William Roche
presided at the organ. A large number of guests were present. The happy
couple left on a trip to Ship Harbor <sic> to visit relatives of the bride,
and on their return will reside at No. 13 Macara Street.
(Newspaper clipping, unknown paper, April 1925 handwritten)

Their marriage on April 22, 1925 is in NSHVS. Frank is listed as a fireman.

Here is Ethel's obituary;
The Chronicle-Herald/The Mail-Star Published: 07/15/99 Page: C3
HAYDEN, Ethel Viola - 96, Halifax, died peacefully in the QEII Health
Sciences Centre on July 13, 1999, surrounded by her loving family. Born in
Lower Ship Harbour, she was the daughter of the late William and Celesta
(Power) Laybolt. She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy, Halifax; Inez,
Terrence Bay; and son Ralph, Dartmouth; 19 grandchildren; 29
great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was predeceased by
her husband, Abel; infant daughter, Florence; daughter, Joan; son, Frank;
brothers, Cecil, Reg, Clem, Ernest; sisters, Mabel, Naomi, and Beatrice;
grandson, Gary; and great-granddaughter, Jessica. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m.
today, July 15, and Friday, July 16, in Rowlings Funeral Home, Musquodoboit
Harbour. Funeral service to be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 17, at St.
Stephen's Church, Lower Ship Harbour. Burial to follow in Church Cemetery.
Family flowers only. Donations to St. Stephen's Cemetery Fund or any
charity.

The obituary doesn't mention it but Ethel's sister Mabel Dorothy was married
to Abel Frank's brother Winston Churchill Hayden.

Here is Mabel's obituary:
The Chronicle-Herald/The Mail-Star Published: 10/18/93 Page: C3
HAYDEN, Mabel Dorothy - 92, St. Jean, P.Q., formerly of West Ship Harbour,
died October 15, 1993, in St. Jean. Born in Lower West Ship Harbour, she was
a daughter of the late William and Celesta Laybolt. She was a member of the
Anglican Church of Canada. Having married in September 1920 in St. Paul's
Anglican Church, she and her family moved to London, Ont. and later settled
in St. Jean. She is survived by three daughters, Donzella, Halifax; Doris
Bissonnett, St. Jean; Edith MacInnis, Kentville; two sons, Gerald, Nanaimo,
B.C.; George, Montreal; sister, Ethel, Halifax; brother, Reginald, Ship
Harbour; several grand- children, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by
her husband, Winston; two daughters, Phyllis, one in infancy; a son in
infancy; two sisters, Beatrice Holm, Naomi; three brothers, Ernest, Clement,
Cecil. Funeral and burial will be in in St. Jean. Donations may be made to
Alzheimers Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Mabel's daughter Donzella went by Laybolt, and was raised, I believe, by her
grandparents, I don't think she was Winston's daughter. (She passed away in
2002 in BC, unmarried I think)

I don't have a death date or place for Winston, born about 1900, from age at
marriage. If you get Abel Frank's obituary could you also forward it to me
please?

Thanks,
Dorothy Selig (researching the Laybolt's of the Eastern Shore)
