Rosie, There may be LDS films of church records that you can order for a small fee and view at a local Family History Centre [Mormon Church]. This website gives some of the film numbers relevant to Halifax County. It may be worthwhile looking for Ralph or Nellie's will. http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nshalifa/films.html
You can also search the www.familysearch.org site for specific film numbers. >From the top menue choose 'Library Catalog[ue]' - sorry I'm English!!! - then 'Place Search'; put in Halifax part of Nova Scotia, choose one from list - say 'Probate Records' then choose 'Probate Records Halifax County 1749 - 1968'. >From this choice choose 'View Film notes' [top right corner]. This will give you a list of film numbers. After 'Library Catalog[ue]' you could also choose 'Keyword Search' or 'Subject Search' if you want to explore. It is not in the online files. Her name was Mary McDonald, born in Halifax, NS either 1901 or 1904, on May 4th. Parents, Ralph McDonald and Nellie Walsh. Any other way I can locate this? Thanks!
