Hello Listers ... A week ago I watched an episode of the old television series "Road to Avonlea" . The story is based on L.M. Montgomery's novels of rural life on Prince Edward Island. The character of Janet said ----- "I shall be late for the meeting of the RODD." Eliza replied ---- "I don't think the Daughters of the Dominion will be overly upset if you're late." Is it possible that RODD could be the initials for Royal Order of the Daughters of the Dominion ? This story takes place between the years 1900 - 1915. Could there have been such an organizaion for women, or was the author using literary or poetic licence ? During this period on the Island, the story also portrays scenes of the men in the community at meetings of the Masonic Society. I have googled the name, with no results.
