Hi List:) Just passing this on from my local paper, The Kingston Whig Standard (Kingston Ontario).
WENTZELL, Vernon (Vern) - Suddenly, Monday July 26, 2010, Vern passed away at Kingston General Hospital. He was born on the 17th of March 1930 in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Beloved husband and best friend of Marlene. Loving father to Steve (Charmaine) and Lynn (Chris). Loved Poppa to Valerie and Allison. Cherished brother of Arleen. Predeceased by mother Hilda and sister Doreen. Vern will be dearly missed by his many cousins and friends in Nova Scotia and Kingston. Also deeply missed by his loving cat Hewie.Vern served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1957 to 1980. Upon retirement from the Navy, he worked as a bartender at Queen's Faculty Club from 1980 to 1996. The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses who lovingly looked after Vern while he was a patient at KGH. Special thanks to Dr. Ropchan and Cathy MacGillvary. A service of remembrance will be held at Edith Rankin United Church, 4080 Bath Road on Thursday August 5, 2010 at 2pm. Reception to follow in the lower hall of the church.
