Dual power supplies and there are frequent log entries about the power supplies losing redundancy, albeit random times and PS units. It sounds like this is the smoking gun...time to call HP, I reckon.
Y'all agree? There is a known issue with the 360 G5 power supplies were they would randomly restart. Hp will replace them for free. There is also a rom upgrade for machines running 5200 and 5400 Xeon processors that would cause a machine check and reboot. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=uk&taskId=110&prodSeriesId=1121486&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=1121486&objectID=c01352906 ________________________________________ From: Damien Solodow [damien.solo...@harrison.edu] Sent: Thursday, June 18, 2009 1:50 PM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: RE: HP DL360 G5 random shutdown Be warned, the download is an iso image, but you can mount it (hehe) and run hpsum.exe from there just like you would for the PSP. In fact, you can copy the files from the firmware CD into the same directory as your Support Paq files. Then when you scan a machine just select the "allow non-bundle products" and it will let you do the firmware at the same time as the Support Paq stuff. -----Original Message----- From: Andy Shook [mailto:andy.sh...@peak10.com] Sent: Thursday, June 18, 2009 4:48 PM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: RE: HP DL360 G5 random shutdown Good to know, I'll do that next. Unfortunately firmware is not included in the Support Paq download, but is a separate item. -----Original Message----- From: Andy Shook [mailto:andy.sh...@peak10.com] Sent: Thursday, June 18, 2009 4:40 PM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: RE: HP DL360 G5 random shutdown Yes to both. Have you looked at the System Management Homepage and its log pages? -----Original Message----- From: Andy Shook [mailto:andy.sh...@peak10.com] Sent: Thursday, June 18, 2009 4:29 PM To: NT System Admin Issues Subject: HP DL360 G5 random shutdown Yo. Got the above mentioned server shutting down at random. Nothing in the OS logs (Windows 2003 R2 std.) or in the HP mgmt utility. Instincts tell me hardware but how to track this down within the HP management utility, which is all good\green, is foreign to this Dell guy. Lastly, I did take this opportunity to apply the latest support paq. Any pointers, as I have resorted to pointing and clicking at this time?
