A two hour trip along Dune Rd, from 7AM-9AM, between Post Ave. Bridge, Quogue
and the Shinnecock Inlet, did not find the previously reported Brown Pelicans
nor the previously reported Marbled Godwit. There was, however, an increase in
the number of shorebirds along the extensive mud and mussel flats. Birds
included Greater Yellowlegs, SB Dowitchers, Ruddy Turnstones, Least Sandpipers,
Semi-palmated Sandpipers, Semi-plamated Plover, and many Black-bellied Plovers.

There were three adult Clapper Rail, clearly visible in two different spots,
and three young Clapper Rail, three Black-crowned Night Heron and one
Yellow-crowned Night Heron, along with the usually expected terns and
shorebirds.

Before the tide began rising, dozens of Snowy Egret and Great Egrets filled the
side of road ditches - an amazing sight!
