Several weeks ago I signed up for the NYSOA Winter Waterfowl Weekend in Oswego 
so I was thrilled to be able to see the Clark’s Grebe on both Saturday and 
Sunday along with a bunch of other great birds.  The weather was pretty brutal 
so there was still some light left when we got home and we decided to try for 
the Great Cormorants previously reported by others in Germantown.    We found 2 
still perched on the channel marker, another lifer for me.  Bill spotted an 
American Pipit foraging along the shoreline.  There’s a lot of habitat on the 
lawns above the river but the poor lone bird was foraging on the wrack line by
