The word is not a typo, but rather is an anachronistic legal term. You
can find it in Black's Law Dictionary, 6th edition, but my (possibly
poor) recollection is that the editors took the term out of Black's,
7th edition.

What in earth does WotC mean by "potation" in the definition of
"Derivative Material" 1.b? My dictionary explains "potation" as:
"The act of drinking: a drink"; "A drinking bout". There must be
some (very) legalese usage of this word going on here that I fail to
find a good translation to - or am I wrong?

Peter before you get carried away, the word, although i may be corrected later
is obviously a typo - i think it should be "portation". As an English speaker
i have only read it as such - its an interesting function of the brain, but if
i where to leave out all the vowels of a sentence most English speakers would
not even notice they where missing, unless of course they are actually looking
for spelling mistakes - i'm sure this occurs in Swedish (or whatever other
language you like) too.
