Robert Wotzlaw should be able to answer some of your questions as he build the Linux release. Alternatively you can try to build it yourself from scratch using the code in the OpenModelica Subversion.
I also have a question regarding the mac *.dmg image. Why is xcode needed for installing this package?
I don't know this either, maybe Eric Meyers can answer this.
The only platform I got it running is windows which I personally do not use.
Unfortunately this is the platform I'm generating the release for so I can answer questions about this one.
