I recently purchased a J-Link probe, and, to my surprise, after upgrading to the latest SEGGER firmware, it does not work with 0.5.0 (nor with the latest repository version).
Although it was manufactured in 2012, the probe originally came with 2 years old firmware: Info : J-Link ARM V8 compiled May 20 2010 17:07:46 Info : J-Link caps 0xb9ff7bbf Info : J-Link hw version 80000 Info : J-Link hw type J-Link OpenOCD had no problems with this version. It took me a while to test many previous versions. The latest I could make it work again was the FW version from December 1st, 2009, included in the J-Link packages from v1.10i to v4.14g. (v4.14h no longer works). --- >From what I understood from other discussions, SEGGER changed the USB protocol >and did not update the documentation, probably in an attempt to fight the >clones. --- Did anyone investigate this issue? Is there any official statement from SEGGER that they do not want to disclose the new protocol? In other words, did anyone ask for the protocol and was refused? Since I plan to use the J-Link probe intensively (I have two SourceForge projcts related to ARM), I'm ready to invest some time in fixing OpenOCD to use the latest SEGGER firmware, at the limit even trying to reverse engineer the protocol via an USB traffic capture. Any comments?
