From "Credo" (formerly Working Assets)Senator Durbin of Illinois was one of the courageous Democrats to vote against the awful bill immunizing Bush and the telecoms from any repercussions on their illegal spying. To register your approval of his stand, you can sign the petition here:
http://tinyurl.com/thanks-sen-durbinWhy Senator Obama felt the need to abandon his principles on this, I can't imagine. (well, I CAN imagine, but I find it incredible)
However, I believe he needs to feel the discomfort of that abandonment. If he is going to be the next president, he will need to be reminded regularly that it is those principles which provided him with the opportunity.
Please follow this link to register your thoughts about this. http://tinyurl.com/whats-with-obama Thanks PF -------------------------------- Tell our senator(s): I can't believe you sold out the Bill of Rights. Dear Friends,I just expressed my severe disappointment in Senator Obama, who voted yes on warrantless wiretapping.
Please have a look at this CREDO Action e-activism campaign. On July 9th, sixty-nine senators -- including Senator Obama -- voted to gut the Fourth Amendment. They voted to hand President Bush the power to spy on Americans without warrants, and to immunize the telecoms who allegedly helped him do so in the past.
So why does a president with the lowest approval ratings since the advent of polling have the power to eviscerate the Constitution?
Because Senator Obama gave it to him. At the signing ceremony in the Rose Garden, President Bush paid "special tribute" (his words) to Democrats like Steny Hoyer, Jay Rockefeller, and Silvestre Reyes for helping to pass the bill.
You can make your opinion heard by signing this petition and speaking out for our civil liberties.
