It probably has something to do with the U3 software on the Sandisc drives.----- Original Message ----- From: "DJ DOCTOR P" <djdoct...@att.net>

Hello Kevin, I have a San Disc 4 GB USB flash drive. I created a folder that's called, audio+podcast. I put mostly MP3 files in that folder. But when I plug that flash drive in to the player, it plays one of the audio files for a wile. But then, it stops and gives me a cartridge error message. But when I plug my wife's MP3 player in to it, the machine plays the files off of it without any problems. My question is, why does it act like that with my Sand Disc USB flash drive and not my wife's MP3 player?John.----- Original Message ----- From: "Kevin Minor" <kmi...@windstream.net>To: "'PC Audio Discussion List'" <pc-audio@pc-audio.org> Sent: Friday, March 12, 2010 2:27 PM Subject: RE: DIGITAL TALKING BOOK PLAYER QUESTIONHi John. The player will play 3gp, wav and mp3 files. I'm thinking of those three right off, I may be forgetting one, though. These files need to be in afolder called audio+podcasts which is on the root of the drive. You can putsubfolders under this to organize them. The player won't announce the folders, but when you're in bookshelf mode you'll be able to navigate to them. As for playing files in stereo, this may or may not be true. I say this, because earlier firmware updates to the player didn't play files in stereo. You need to have version 2.1 or later of the firmware, and it will play files in stereo. To find out your player's version, with no media in it, press the sleep button ten times quickly until you hear the serial numberbeing announced. Once this announcement starts, just wait, and you'll hearthe version of your player's firmware announced. My player has version 2.1.3 of the firmware on it.To download NLS books for your player, you need to be signed up with the NLSsite. To do this, go to https://nlsbard.loc.govand click on the link on that page. Since you have an NLS player, you'll beable to get this service. It's nice to download books from the site, andanything you get on a cartridge from your library will be on the NLS site.By the way, you may want to call your local library and tell them you want digital books on cartridge sent to you. I had to do this for myself, and infact I had to call them again to jolt things into action. I should be getting my first NLS book from my library any day now. There is an email list that is specificly set up for the NLS player. Youcan find out how to subscribe to it, as well as have some of your questionsanswered. Go to http://bardtalk.com If you have any other questions, let me know.
