It's very simular. The KM is a lot closer to the Spotmatic F, as it has a self timer and DOF preview. To make the K1000 all that Pentax did was strip down the KM. Internally, they are pretty much the same, but the K1000 uses plastic in places the Spotmatic F probably uses metal.
