My primary site is forecast for "partly cloudy". My two backup sites are
both showing "Generally sunny despite a few afternoon clouds."

The forecast for my "Oh shit! - Plan B" site changed in the last 48
hours from "Generally sunny" to "Sunny - Abundant sunshine."

You guys can laugh, but the extra traffic is already causing problems

Idaho posted "SO MANY PEOPLE."
There are reports of some areas where gas stations are out of fuel.
I'm making sure that my tanks are topped off all weekend, because I
need to go almost 2 hours away to my chosen spot.

Scientific American has a map on this page showing that travelers will
converge on a set of highways that meet the centerline of the eclipse.
Like small rivers flowing into a larger one, this pattern will amplify
the congestion at points such as Salem, Ore., Idaho Falls and
Columbia, S.C.

People are here from all over the world. My sister-in-law came to
visit and says there are people at her hotel in Kearney, Nebraska from
Canada and Japan (and that's just the two she happens to know about).

Sadly, clouds are becoming a real concern for Nebraska, for Monday...
but I'm not chasing it. I'm going to my spot and if it happens, it
happens (and I hope to capture it). But, come Tuesday, I may be one
disappointed pup.

Ghm... Is that about the traffic and the crowds, or about the 2.5 minutes of
darkness?

And another thought: "events of this NATURE"...
Can we pick a different Nature? The one where solar eclipses last longer?
And not that far from home? And with all 7 moons? ;-)

Cheers,
