How about "lesser evil Democrats" (smile) I wouldn't say that FDR and LBJ "partially broke from a pro-business agenda." Instead, it's a matter of breaking with the explicit agenda of the majority of businesscritters (representing their short-term individual goals) and instead favoring more of their collective and long-term (i.e., class) interests, in eras of popular upheaval. Of course, what the capitalist class interests are can only be known after the fact. The way that LBJ's war on Vietnam was put into practice may have gone against capitalist class interests, since it encouraged domestic unrest, inflation, and foreign-exchange turmoil. > (Jim D and Doug are "good Yalies", rarities, as we know) ah shucks. Flattery will get you everywhere. But I'm told that all Skull N Bones guys are fine fellows, moral and progressive to the core. ;-) -- Jim Devine / "Segui il tuo corso, e lascia dir le genti."
