I realize this post is a week old, but...

>>I've never really cared for piggies until Squatch happened along. They
are so incredibly silly. Matt and I agree that what they lack
in brains they make up for in cute.<<

Excuse me, did you just say guinea pigs are not intelligent?!
I have, and have had, a few piggies here that would take exception to that
remark... (I think guinea pigs are just as smart as bunnies, they just show
it in different ways sometimes.)

My first pig, Hawk-eye, who I got over 10 years ago now, I swear that boy
was a dog in a guinea pig suit. (A BIG guinea pig suit. He was over 4 pounds
at his prime, and not fat either...) He knew his name and came when called.
He knew which rooms he was allowed to go in (though that didn't mean he
didn't try to sneak from time to time...). He was trained to stand up and
beg for his nightly veggies, and then to run a lap of the cage to give me
room to put them down! (Otherwise he stood in the corner I wanted to put his
food in.) He trained himself to stand up and beg at the fridge door, and to
recognize a Pepsi can and attack it until he was allowed a drink. (An
unhealthy habit I know, but he would not be refused!)

My new girls that I've had just over a month now already recognize my
footsteps at the top of the stairs and call for me when they hear me coming.
They know when veggie time is and call for their dinner. And Pumpkin stands
up and begs for her veggies. (Autumn is too lazy and just waits until
Pumpkin gets her lettuce and then tries to steal it.)

I probably only now have rabbits because of my guinea pigs. I learned about
them and how interesting they are first, and then decided to give a rabbit a
chance.
