I had the same issue a few months ago
http://markmail.org/message/2eil2p4pt2p6pzhd and I never got a straight
answer.   Things seemed to work when I upgraded Ant.
Here is mine for reference: Apache Ant version 1.7.0 compiled on August 29
2007

This is on Ubuntu.
