She's her own walking treasure chest. Among the things today's PMs don't have over Dolores is the anticipation over newly discovered stuff long ago, hidden away in someone's attic or basement that only now get to see the light of day. It's a good thing she has so many others enlisted to track down what is out there that only now is rising to the surface. Asking me to be one of those, I'm not sure I'd cut it as a private eye. Pix of her from those days when "figure modeling" was something she couldn't reveal to her family when she did them.
Found were new beach shots that recount the true mastery of those black-and-white pioneer photogs. Classic beach bunny pic frolicking in the surf; one on a rock that recalls, "the Little Mermaid"; and another looking like a mermaid enticing some sailing ship passing by, looking for a place to weigh anchor. Then the fun side of her as she has new "Carmen Miranda" pix. Not as big of a headress, but still, the one where she's standing in a doorway looking verrrry tasty. And there was even an after pic of her in a classic nude bathing beauty pic recalling the glamour days of Hollywood. Sitting poolside, it was the one taken of her (minus the swimsuit) after she was taken wearing it in the same spot & in the same pose. You could just picture the likes of Jack Warner, Howard Hughes or some other Hollywood mogul standing by as he directs the photo session. Since DeDe was unavailable this show, I chose DDM to be my first PM. And, as usual, I could've spent the entire day with her just recounting story after story after story of those early wildcating days of modeling, crossing paths with the legends of the photog industry. Those of us who've pressed her to write a book about her experiences may have to settle for lectures. Having looked into a book, she said it may be more feasible to speak as opposed to writing. Either way, maybe some of today's PMs will have similar stories when they reach DMMs age. But they'd be hard-pressed to match the color, imagination & intensity that DDM gives when looking back on her early modeling days. Today's PMs whom you may consider your standard for PM goodwill STILL can take MANY lessons from Dolores.
