Disgustely I stopped monitoring FrontPageMag when they printed a - from my point of view - highly racist article on "the myth of the noble savage". Somehow I can't find it again via google, but I wondered for quite some time now if its author was in fact: David Yeagley. Admittedly I have not paid much attention to Horowitz and his activities in Popular culture lately but this seems interesting: FrontPagMag's David Yeagley <http://h-net.msu.edu/cgi-bin/logbrowse.pl?trx=vx&list=H-Antisemitism&mo\ nth=0704&week=&msg=sdSzXz66VQr7/HaZ/apqvA&user=&pw=> I wanted to ask this forum about a figure who has made himself notorious within American Indian circles, David Yeagley, sponsored and employed by David Horowitz at FrontPageMag.com. Claiming to be Comanche, most evidence points towards Yeagley being a white supremacist claiming American Indian ancestry, much like the late Forrest Carter (KKK leader and author of both Education of Little Tree and George Wallace's "Segregation Forever" speech). What is particularly intriguing is that Yeagley claims to admire and defend Jews, and wrote an opera about the Holocaust. (He claims his is the first opera ever written about the Holocaust from the POV of a survivor, which seems unlikely to me.) Yet Yeagley is clearly a white supremacist. His writings frequently argue that whites are superior to all other races. This is a man who called for the mass murder of Mexicans who cross the border without papers, argued for killing Iraqi women and children "so they don't grow up to be terrorists", refers to nonwhites as "darkies", defended the use of the word "nigger" in several articles, compared Janet Jackson to an ape, and referred to Martin Luther King as a "blight" on America. He's also built a long series of ties to Stormfront, the National Alliance, eugenicists, the self described white nationalist and anti immigrant group VDARE, anti immigrant vigilantes the Minutemen, and anti-Indian groups like One Nation. I see Yeagley and his employment by David Horowitz as examples of a number of phenomena: 1. Anti Semitism masquerading as philo Semitism. (See quotes at the bottom link.) 2. White supremacists finding it strategically useful to claim to not be anti-Semitic. The only other example I can think of is the eugenics magazine American Renaissance (which has endorsed Yeagley). 3. Neoconservatives such as David Horowitz being willing to work with white supremacists. 4. Neoconservatives trying to repackage white supremacy as mainstream conservatism. 5. Disturbingly lower and lower standards of behavior being accepted by some neoconservatives. In Yeagley's case, he's also urged his followers to "pursue" his critics. The end result of that is myself and another critic, Mohican classical music composer Brent Michael Davids, received a series of death threats from a Yeagley follower. (Both criminal and civil cases are being pursued against Yeagley's follower and possibly Yeagley himself.) 6. And of course, the use of professional tokens by Horowitz to make racist attacks of one minority on another. In this case, Horowitz didn't bother to find out if his professional Indian token was actually American Indian or not. David Horowitz hired Yeagley after he made headlines for trying to indoctrinate "patriotism" into students in a Humanities class he taught at the University of Oklahoma. Yeagley was fired after repeatedly misrepresenting himself to the media as a spokesman for the university's official position. (He now claims he was fired for being conservative, a victim of the Vast Left Wing Conspiracy.) Yeagley is useful to Horowitz to have as someone who defended "Indian" sports mascots, Columbus Day, and the superiority of whites while simultaneously attacking Blacks, Arabs, Latinos, Catholics, gays, and above all American Indians. To the naive the last would appear to be self criticism. But what I'd like the help of members of this list in doing is analyzing both his use of his anti Semitism masquerading as philo Semitism and understanding how and why Horowitz continues employing him. Bluntly, I wonder how Horowitz can live with himself. or even stomach working with Yeagley. For Horowitz, does his animosity for perceived "leftist" causes outweigh all other considerations? While Yeagley is quite open in his hatred for virtually every non-Nordic ethnic group and virtually every non-Protestant religious group, when it comes to Jews he finds it useful to claim to be an admirer and defender. I hope that the other scholars on this list could give me examples of similar cases to look at and perhaps explain the rationalizations used by both Jews who work with white supremacists and white supremacists who claim to not be anti-Semitic.
