CALL FOR PAPERS THE JOURNAL OF COMPUTER SCIENCE EDUCATION
SPECIAL ISSUE OF COMPUTER SCIENCE EDUCATION: DOCTORAL RESEARCH IN COMPUTING EDUCATION JUNE 2015 Guest Editor: Anthony Robins, University of Otago, New Zealand Submission Deadline: November 14, 2014 Journal Information: http://www.informaworld.com/cse Doctoral research in any discipline is important because it explores and highlights the most promising directions for the field. Within computer science education, most research is undertaken by active teachers / practitioners, limiting both the duration and the scope of potential studies. Doctoral students are in a position to undertake substantial research, and to reflect on teaching and learning practice, often apart from being the current teacher or learner. Thus, doctoral research offers a powerful lens through which to view our field. The guest editor invites authors to submit manuscripts for a special issue devoted to doctoral research in computer science education. Submissions should contain novel contributions, and meet high academic standards. Papers will feature doctoral work in progress or completed within the past two years. Manuscripts should include a description of the problem, a review of relevant research, methods of data collection and analysis, findings, discussion, and future research agenda. It is anticipated that these articles will be on the order of 5,000 to 8,000 words. The total length of the manuscript must be indicated, including an abstract (of about 150 words), and word number equivalents for illustrations, tables, figures, and charts. Prospective authors are invited to send email indicating their intention to submit a manuscript to the guest editor of the special issue, Anthony Robins <[email protected]>. General questions may also be sent to The Journal of Computer Science Education editors, Sally Fincher or Laurie Murphy <[email protected]>. Please submit manuscripts by email to the guest editor (you should receive an acknowledgement within a week of submission): Anthony Robins Computer Science, The University of Otago, New Zealand [email protected] http://www.cs.otago.ac.nz/staff/anthony.html Important Dates: November 14, 2014 : Manuscripts due January 16, 2015 : Author notification March 1, 2015 : Final submission due June 2015 : Publication
