Mmmh, I'm not sure this is the right question to ask, but as you don't mention it in your mail: Why don't you just take a binary installation from mysql-python.sourceforge.net? Either the precompiled .egg or the setup binary - that worked for me everytime I worked with mysql and python on a windows environment...
