Got it now,,

I used your method and modified the sripts for each of our domains.
Then created a new global_address_book,
Copied all individual domain_address_books into the new_global,
Now all domains have the same global address book , set in the conf.pl, 
option 6, just point to the new_global_address_book.
Initially I allowed it to be writable, then soon came to my senses, as 
It got messed up already,.

Qmail doesn't, per se. Squirrelmail does.

See http://squirrelmail.org/docs/admin/admin-2.html
Then
# grep data /etc/squirrelmail/*
and you should be on your way.
