What's in your /etc/resolv.conf file? That will determine which dns 
resolver is actually being  used.

What does
# dig yahoo.com
show? The part at the end will show which resolver serviced the request, 
and how long it took.

I am going to suggest that you first run the queue repair tool.  That usually 
repairs these issues.

Slow/sluggish performance is often indicative of a problem with dns resolution. 
What's in your /etc/resolv.conf? Do you have a caching nameserver installed on 
the QMT host?
