Root Response to Abiotic Stresses - Arabidopsis and Corn

One Postdoctoral Position

One postdoctoral position is available immediately to study root response to nutrient deprivation in corn and Arabidopsis in the Schachtman Laboratory.  The project involves work characterizing candidate genes that were identified in a microarray study on Arabidopsis root response to potassium deprivation (Shin and Schachtman, 2004 PNAS 101:8827-8832).  The project also involves the biochemical, molecular and physiological characterization of corn root response to nutrient deprivation.  The candidate should be a highly motivated recent Ph.D. with a strong background in molecular biology, and/or plant physiology.  Lab experience with Arabidopsis, microarrays, computer skills and previous experience studying transcription factors would be advantageous.  A desire and willingness to learn new techniques is essential.  The Danforth Center provides a collaborative environment for interdisciplinary research in a new and well-equipped facility.

Salary is competitive and includes excellent benefits. Email an application with CV, publication list, and email addresses of three references to: Daniel Schachtman [EMAIL PROTECTED]For more information contact Dr. Schachtman or see: <http://www.danforthcenter.org/schachtman/>.  Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
