RE: [recoznettwo] Press Call from Aboriginal Tent Embassy

Hi Everyone,

Our Sovereign Elders at the Aboriginal Tent Embassy in Canberra have my full
support. I have deep respect and gratitude for the work everyone at the
embassy has done since it's inception, and applaud Uncle Kevin and Aunty
Isabell et al for holding tight to our traditions.

Kangaroo and Emu should never have been taken for emblems on Commonwealth
property. They are two very important sacred symbols and I'm very glad of
this ceremony to call them back, it is rightfully respectful. It has a
continual insult to Aboriginal people to see those who oppress us flaunt
these important symbols as if they belonged to them. Without having
knowledge of their sacred significance, and without being custodians of
their Dreaming it has been, and is unlawful and invites much negative
spirit.

I am hoping to visit the Tent Embassy in Canberra one day (I'm in Brisbane),
I have never been there and I have a special journey to make to the Tent
Embassy with my Mum, a healing journey. I will bring my Mum (in Victoria)
and we will bring this piece of wood I have saved from Warangesda mission to
place on the Sacred Fire for Peace. It reminds me of when my family lived
there trying to survive. I would hope in my heart that the Commonwealth does
not try to deny us this opportunity, as the Tent Embassy is a special
destination for me, it is the home of my Sovereign Elders and any threat to
its continued presence and operation I would regard as a major, major insult
and an extreme injustice. I hope the person or persons who so dangerously
drove a car over tents recently will understand that our ancestor spirits
know who they are, and that their behaviour is entirely dishonourable and
cowardly.

I have a big tent here that I promised to Aunty Isabell last year to assist
the Tent Embassy's work. It has been too expensive to pay transport for it
to Canberra (very big/heavy). It is either for sale to give the proceeds to
Aunty Isabelle, or if you may be travelling from Brisbane to the Tent
Embassy in Canberra I would be very grateful for someone (maybe a truckie?)
to take it there for me please, my phone is Brisbane (07) 3805 4844, or 0400
117 886.
