13:56 AEST Tue 28 Aug 2001 Aborigine found dead in Qld prison cell An Aboriginal man was found hanging in his cell on Tuesday at Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre, west of Brisbane. A spokesman for the Department of Corrective Services said the 48-year-old man could not be revived, despite a doctor, nursing staff, ambulance officers and custodial officers working on the prisoner for more than an hour. Prison staff found the man hanging in the cell shortly before 7am during a routine check. No further details have been released and his name has not yet been released as next of kin have not yet been notified. The inmate had been a remand prisoner at the centre since May 31 and was due to be taken to the police watchhouse at Beenleigh to appear in court on Wednesday. He would have fac The prisoner's death today was the second in as many days in south-east Queensland. Paul Gerald Boyle, who had been on leave, was found hanged in a Gold Coast apartment by his wife. Boyle had been taking part in the Work Outreach Camp program and staying at the apartment at Hope Island for his first period of reintegration leave. He was sentenced in January this year to three years' imprisonment for fraud with a 10-month non-parole period. The Corrective Services Investigation Unit was also investigating an alleged sexual assault of a prisoner by another inmate at the Sir David Longland Correctional Centre, also west of B The incident was alleged to have taken place on August 18.
