Friends,

My partner Carolyn has just returned from a conference in New Delhi at which
Vandana Shiva was the leading participant and speaker. The gist of the
conference was the patenting of traditional seeds by Monsanto et al. It
dealt with the how the women are trying to regain their ownership of this
vital aspect of their lives.

Carolyn was very impressed with the conference and the passion of the women
involved. She became and is very friendly with a group of women from
Pakistan who had to report to the Indian police each day of their stay.
Carolyn is in almost daily contact.

I have been quiet for about two and a half weeks as I was visiting my
children and doing some research in Alice Springs, then off to the
hinterland of the Gold Coast. This enabled me to visit one of my favourite
locations again Mt. Lamington National Park.
