Ran across this today from an Ubuntu linux users list:

https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/30811
[How to DOWNGRADE from Openoffice 2.4 to 2.3.1]

The user was experiencing this bug:

http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=87709
[Writer fails to read Base query]

Additional info:
http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=69966

<http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=70475&highlight=query+statement+run+check+cheque+data+source>

and ended up forcing his (U)OOo back to 2.3.1 (yes I advised him on how
to run parallel versions:-) which is a regression.

Does anyone else have experience with this issue?

Added note: I'll ask the user to load OOo3.0Beta to see is he is seeing
the same in 3B.

Hi,

I had one of the folks form the forum send me their database with the problem.

The problem persists in BEA300 also.

However - there is a workaround ( not pretty, but ... ) that will allow the reports to work in 3.0, 2.4 and 2.3.x

See the post at

Drew

Thanks!

Looks like this should then be a showstopper for 2.4.1 *and* 3.0? Is
there a similar bug filed for 3.0?

Did you file the bug? If not, please do so and attach the database to it so I can look at it and get it in.

James McKenzie

Presumably you were directing this to Drew?
Yes.
 My question to Drew was:

Is there a similar bug filed for 3.0?

I know nothing of the actual bug itself other than reported here.

Drew: Is there a similar bug to 88709 for 3.0, and if not can you please
file one?

Please do so. We need separate bug reports for both 2.4 and 3.0 as they are separate products. We also need the database that is causing the problem attached to BOTH issues so we can make sure that the problem is fixed for all platforms for both releases.
