"Great Expectations" features some of the most memorable characters in English Literature. Charles Dickens wrote this novel late in his career after achieving much personal success, but also after some personal disappointments. Great Expectations of his own drove much of his ambition and informed his view of rags to riches heroes. Even to modern readers, this story still engages and entertains.
