*SWAYOCO’S STATEMENT ON THE ARREST OF COMRADE THULANI MASEKO (MARIO’S
LAWYER)*

*MSWATI HAS REALLY GONE BERSECK*

The struggling youth of Swaziland under the command of SWAYOCO wishes to yet
again inform the progressive world that a despot in the name of King Mswati
III, has last week Thursday, 28 May, 2009, urgently summoned his personal
cabinet led by Barnabas Dlamini the Prime Minister of Swaziland and
instructed them to do anything under the sun against our comrade, legal
activist, and people’s lawyer, comrade Thulani R. Maseko. This has therefore
led to the arbitrary arrest of Thulani this morning, Tuesday, June 3, 2009,
charged with the crime of contravening the *Sedition and Subversive Act of
1938,* one of those draconian piece of legislation in the hand s of a
dictator.

The youth wishes to reiterate the words uttered by Thulani on the recent May
day, which he has been arrested for, *“MJ Dlamini and Jack Govender died for
the liberation of this country. One day the Lozitha Bridge will be called MJ
and Govender Bridge”.* In any ordinary and progressive society, this are
words that would not only inspire and honour the greatest sacrifice these
two comrades have offered for the country,  but they are also a political
landmark upon which generations to come must look up to and uphold that
standard set. It is on this premise that PUDEMO‘s youth league concurs
unambiguously with this words that Thulani made and now arrested for.

We view this barbaric and cowardice act of Mswati and his cabal as desperate
measures employed by a choking and decaying political bustard. The continued
manipulation and exploitation of the state apparatus which in this case is
the police, the judiciary as well as the executive arm of government, as
indeed an evidence that affirms our long standing accession as the youth
that, the days of the Tinkhundla system (royal supremacy) are over and the
tide for multiparty has crossed the point of Rubicon.

Lastly, Thulani will be joining comrade Mario (the people’s President) and
comrade Amos Mbhedzi (the people’s fighter) in the dungeons. If our path to
freedom calls for Thulani and all this leaders to languish in the jails of
this government, we say these comrades are ready and available. They will be
following in the foot steps of countless combatants who some of them, have
already laid their precious blood and flesh as tacit guarantees for our
freedom.

All in all, this will never dampen our spirits nor will it scare us in
continuing the fight for democracy, social justice and a better life for
all. We pledge that as a youth we will fight with all at our disposal till
victory is ascertained.
