I've never felt that 5:4 is bang on the correct aspect ratio. From measuring
on a few tellies, as well as looking at video timing, I observe the ratio to
me is about 1.28-1.29 (5:4 being 1.25, 4:3 being 1.33).

Timing wise, the SAM draws the 256 pixel area in 42.6us from what i've
scoped and worked out in terms of clock pulses. Figures I've seen on the web
for the ZX Spectrum show it draws it's 256 pixels in 36.6us.

So... quick bit of maths, and it shows that the ZX Spectrum display area
would be the width of 220 SAM pixels.

Colin.
