I wish to inform that verses of Valmiki Ramayana are now transposed to UTF 
fonts,?and the Itrans part of ?pratipadArtha section is colourised.?
This facility is per kindness of Smt. Shree Devi Kumar who transposed all of 
the work by using certain software.?
This is presently housed in sanskritdocuments.org web site.?

The UTF fonts of OmkArAnanda Ashram are?made available in a zip file at this 
address.

However, the original work in old Sanskrit 98 font, which font lost its

portion of the Vakrokti-verses of Mayura:

Parvati: Without staking some gold,

I would not like to play. (candra ? means archaic usage, gold. But
here it may mean simply that since Shiva doesn?t have any money,
Parvati will not play without the stake of Candra, the moon). Why are
you make me (to play) like this.



Shiva: Nandin (the attendant of Shiva), Call R?hu, if it
(cha.ndragrahaNa) pleases the mistress. (If she doesn?t like to play
without (candragrahaNa = the lunar eclipse), call R?hu, who will seize
the moon to create lunar eclipse]



 Why Raghu and Ketu are devour every year the moon and the sun?

 The story of the churning of the ocean Amruta-manthana has an
epilogue after getting the nectar. The complete story of
samudra-manthan can be read in vikipedia here:

The story relevant here reads as follows: As the nectar appeared on
the ocean (according to some versions Dhanwantari, the incarnation of
Vishnu and the first physician appeared with the nectar in his hand),
by the joint effort of deva-s and asura-s, the asura-s seized away the
pot of nectar (from the hands of Dhanwantari) and all began to quarrel
over the possession of the pot. Then Vishnu appeared in the attractive
form Mohini, persuading the asura-s to handover to him who will serve
it to both seated in two different rows. Accordingly, both sat in two
different rows and Mohini began to serve to the row of deva-s only.
Knowing this, a demon, in the guise of deva-s had seated in their rows
and drank the nectar served by Mohini. But at the same time, the S?rya
and Candra pointed out this to Mohini (Vishnu) who ordered his weapon
disc Sudar?ana to cut of his head into two immediately. Thus the two
halves head and body separated, but still live. The head called R?hu
devours  every now and then, but could now swallow Candra and S?rya to
revenge. This is called ?grahana? or eclipse of the Sun and Moon
according to Hindu mythology. Astrological accounts for the shadow
nature of R?hu (ch?y?) and Ketu (comet) as the heven bodies (graha-s).
The form of R?hu is described as that of a serpent. The head and tail
called these two. This is the reason for referring to him as serpent
also in the next verse by pun.

Parvati: Alas, how anybody can have enjoyment (play) with the
sharp-fanged terrifying rAhu (beside)? (How can any one rejoice
keeping a serpent by his side? This is the interpretation of Shiva, in
his reply)



Shiva: If it does not please you, I will remove the garlands of snake
(h?ra+ahi = snake worn as ornament by Shiva) .

Shiva wears serpents as ornaments as very often called n?gabh??a?a.
?Shiva wears the skin of a tiger and has a snake twined round his
neck, two items of attire <http://www.answers.com/topic/attire> he
acquired in defeating these beasts when they were sent to destroy him
by jealous rishis, or sages?? Symbolically the serpent is the Jiva or
the individual soul which rests upon Shiva, the Paramatma or the
supreme soul. The five hoods mean the five senses or the five Tattvas
viz., earth, water, fire, air and ether. The five hoods or the five
serpents represent the five Pranas, which hiss in the body like the
serpent. The inhalation and exhalation are like the hissing of the
serpent. The individual soul enjoys the worldly objects through these
Tattvas. When the individual attains knowledge through control of
these senses and mind, he finds his eternal resting abode in Lord
Shiva, the supreme soul. This is the esoteric significance of Lord
Shiva's wearing the snake on His body. Lord Shiva wears serpents as
ornaments on His body. This indicates that Lord Shiva is absolutely
fearless and immortal. Generally serpents live for hundreds of years.
Thus wearing of serpents by Lord Shiva signifies that He is eternal.?

Parvati: Why do you falsely attribute meanings otherwise (in my
speeches)? I didn?t mean any of your allegations. (a?ka means
allegation or blemish and also lap).

Shiva: That is not fair to say (that I do not know your a?ka = lap)
after you had been sitting on it for thousands of divine years!

P?rvati is seated on the lap of Shiva according to mythological

May the face of Bhavani, with the pupils of the eyes sparkling with
joy, during the skilful dice play with Pa?upati with these puns like
tender nooses (pe?ala-p??aka-l?l? = skilful dice play and with the
charm of nooses) protect you.





This means as it is, Parvati wanted to avoid playing dice in all ways,
but was compelled by Shiva leaving no chance to escape, by replying
tit for tat for every excuses put forward by Parvati. She was pleased
by the skilful replies of Shiva who escaped all the nooses to hook him
and threw them at herself in return so that she was left no other way
than to continue playing. The phrase *pa?upati-pe?ala-p??aka-l?l?*
also seems suggeste the noose thrown to control the bull (*pa?upati* ?
also means ?iva*)* running aghast in a sport. I am not sure.

In this vakya, ??? is the verb. Hence, with my little knowledge of the grammar, 
I presume? that all the nouns (and adjectives) should be in 4th (Dative Case). 
But I find only ?????????? alone in the 4th case whereas the preceeding words 
are all?in the 2nd (Accusative) case.
?
Am I missing something?

No, you have not missed anything. vibhakti-vyatyaya is very common in vedic
literature. For this mantra, the vedic commentator sAyana connects the dots
by saying, "tAdRsham parameshvaram anusmRtya iti sheShaH" i.e. Having
contemplated on the form described with dvitiiyA-vibhakti, we salute that
vishvarUpa. Practically speaking, consider all the words as having
chaturthii-vibhakti.

Hi All,

This is what I learnt some time ago:

A) Rameshvara derived as "raamaH Ishvarah yasya saH" - bahuvreehi samasa 
meaning to whom rama is Ishvara

B) Rameshvara derived as "ramasya IshvaraH raameSvaraH" - tatpurusha samasa 
meaning Ishvara of Rama

C) Rameshvara derived as "ramaScha asou esvaraScha raameSvaraH" - karmadharaya 
samsa - meaning it is both Rama and Ishvara

My query is whether by using accents (such as vedic accents of uddata, 
anuddata, svarita etc.) the compound word can have only one meaning, and if 
yes, the correct accent for Rama to convey each of the aforesaid meanings.

The indra-shatru exchanges on this list made me think, made me wonder if it may 
be possible.
