Dear Friends,

Namaste.

One of my friends says that while getting the sutras of Panini by
heart, we have to do it from the reverse. By this, while reciting,
the anuvrittis / adhikara sutras will come later than the sutra
themselves. This will enable us to form and understand the real
meaning of the sutras.

Any comments pls?

With regards,
Anupam.

Hi everybody!
I am a new member.
Analysing a sloka a day is good idea.
In anupam's posting, what are the numbers in parantheses?
I could do with the meanings of some of the words (Asuun, pragnyavaadam?)
Please help

I have a desire to understand the Gayatri Mantra grammatically. Has any one
done this?
eg. "Dheemahi' - what is the root verb and its accurate meaning? here is it
the first person plural that is being used? which lakaaram?

namo namaH,
Your request came at the right time. Last weekend (yesterday and the day
before) in Bangalore, we have gotten the entire aShTaadhyaayi's sUtra paaTha
recital recorded by Samskrita Bharati-affiliated scholars.

I have put the content online at my website:
http://surasa.net/music/girvani/sbharati.php#ashtadhyayi

Please feel free to listen to it online or download it.

This shloka forms the part of sandhyAvandana, the daily ritual of all dvijas.
I know most of the verses come from TaitrIya Aranyaka/brahmaNa. I may be able
to search for it.
Most definitely it is not from the Gita, though the verse has been quoted
extensively in sanskrit literature...

I'm pretty sure that this verse is not from the Bhagavad-gita.

Sincerely,
Toke

This verse is supposed to be part of a conversation between Aryambha and
Sankara(Kalady Adi Sankarabhagavathpada). I am not sure as to the exact
document that contains this document. However, I have heard this as a
legend from my mother(my guru) in early days of brahmacharya.
I shall try to search documents as well.

Shankara.
