I have been googling for an RTF -> SGML convertor, sadly have not found any suitable free (mukt) ones. Some resource lists that I have run into are referenced below: http://www.w3.org/Tools/Word_proc_filters.html TagPerfect and TagWizard from this list seem to be the perfect solution. But are not free software :-( (Note the URLs to these packages are broken in the page linked above, please google for the current URLs) * TagPerfect is an RTF to SGML convertor. Will convert and parse existing RTF documents. * TagWizard makes MS Word into an interactive SGML and HTML editor. * Rainbow seems interesting (but again non-free) I am sure that free software equivalents must exist somewhere for doing RTF -> SGML. I should be able to dig deeper after my last mid-semester test today. Meanwhile people please pitch in with inputs on these and other possible solutions. Maybe we could do a RTF/DOC to LaTeX conversion before going to SGML, might get quite ugly though! I also found that most websites lay stress on the fact that the originating document must be "well-structured" with consistent heading styles to enable any decent conversion. I don't know how one can ensure that, with the normal tendency of MS Word users (?!) to mark out headings and sub-headings by applying hard formatting. Suggestions welcome. -- ------------------------------,_,------------------------------------ Vipul Mathur (O,O) mail at vipulmathur dot org http://vipulmathur.org/ ( ) vipul at linux-delhi dot org ------------------------------"-"------------------------------------ "There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path." -- Morpheus, "The Matrix"
