free-ed.org project content stylesheet.
version 1.0 by linux lingam, 11 oct 2k2.

please suggest improvements within 36 hours, else forever hold your peace
with the beautiful imperfections of this guideline.

every text file for the free-ed project content, must be based on a template
file, (called the normal.dot in some commercial office apps). this template
file must contain pre-defined stylesheets, that must be used where
appropriate. it is important that all the text be based on a style in the
stylesheet, and must not deviate. not doing so will create errors and
problems in parsing the text for xml and for sgml.

interestingly, the schools may use whatever actual fonts, sizes, or
typesetting they choose.
these are merely cosmetic effects. for xml, it is the stylesheet tag used
that is important, and the website engine will automatically choose the
consistent font, size, style, etc for a consistent look.

pre-defined styles required in the template file:

1) subject [use this to type on the top of the document, 'physics', or
'history', etc.

2) topic [...'organic chemistry' or 'optics' etc.]

3) level /class : [... class IX ]

4) author [... by 'govardhan ganeshnatrajan loomba' ]

5) date.

6) school [ ... use this style to type 'independent volunteer' if applicable ]

7) checked by [... name of teacher or peer person responsible for reviewing
before upload. this obviously will be a registered user]

8) keywords [ a long list of related keywords, comma-separated]

9) chapter number

10) chapter title

11) chapter intro

12) chapter main sub-head

13) chapter second-level sub-head

14) chapter third-level sub-head

15) ... and so on for as many sub-heads as required ...

16) table stylesheets (please define all elements of a table in a style, such
as table head, table sub-head, body text, etc etc etc. nothing should be left
unstyled or arbitrarily typed.)

17) figure number

18) figure heading

19) figure body text.

20) body text [ of the main text]

21) emphasis terms [such as foreign words, bold, italics, etc.]

22) hyperlink

23) footnote

24) bibliography (this too should have its complete set of styles)

25) chapter summary.

26) chapter questions

27) chapter frequently asked questions (faq should have styles for the
questions, and the answers, and style for the hyperlinks if required)

28) FAQ headline [of course, this only says, 'frequently asked questions' but
setting it to the style, allows it to be parsed and tagged properly]

29) online-quiz question style

30) online-quiz answer style.

31) sample question paper styles (this must be completely defined as well0

32) glossary term title [a special word could also be entered into a glossary
of words with definitions. thus if someone clicks on a glossary word, the
definition will pop up)

33) glossary term definition.

important:

1) please browse thru text books to see if any style is missed.
2) i suggest this stylesheet can be created as a normal.dot file, and
published on the site or given to the schools, so all have exactly the same
file to work on. this way, the xml engines will not have a problem with a
differently named style or spelling typo, etc. obviously, we need to freeze
the styles first.
